Can you believe we’re already halfway through Primary One ? Pupils arrived back after the Christmas holidays excited and ready to learn lots of new things.
In our literacy room this term we are continuing our work with the Literacy Rich Programme. We have been really enjoying learning to read using our new Project X books. We are focusing on our writing this term and are working hard to use cursive letters as well as our phonics in our spelling.
Maths & Numeracy
We are using the SEAL numeracy programme to extend our number knowledge and are playing lots of games to help us in our learning. This term we are working on information handling and fractions on Fridays.
Topic and play
Pupils decided that this term they wanted to learn about Light and Dark, Volcanoes, Dinosaurs and Electricity so we have made our playroom into a scientific exploration area. We created a sensory space where the pupils are exploring light and dark using torches and lights. We made a volcano for our dinosaur small world play and then carried out mini science experiments to see how volcanoes erupt. It was lovely, smelly fun.
We took advantage of the snowfall for some outdoor fun and made some snow people and practised the throwing skills we had learned in PE. We all had great fun.
